reVOLT c2 Dual USB Car Charger

Back in January 2012 we told you that Scosche introduced a product called the reVOLT c2, which was a USB car charger that had two USB charge ports on it. Most people have more than one device that charges via a USB port, so having a proper charger can be a life saver and de-clutter your automobile. The Scosche reVOLT c2 is unique as it is first and only shotgun shell sized car charger to fit two 2.1A (10 Watt) USB ports into a very compact form factor. Just because it’s small doesn’t mean it’s weak as the pair of 2.1 Amp USB ports are able to charge two tablets simultaneously. Not bad for a charger that costs just $14.99 plus $0.99 shipping at Newegg.

Scosche reVOLT c2The Scosche reVolt c2 comes in a small cardboard box that clearly shows the charger and has the product highlights on the side of the box. For example Scosche says the reVolt c2 works with iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android Devices, Smartphones, Tablets and pretty much any other device that uses USB for charging.

Scosche reVolt c2 Specifications:

  • 12V USB Adapter
  • Input Voltage: 10-16V
  • USB Output Voltage: 5VDC
  • Dual 10 Watt (2.1 Amp)
  • Dimensions: 1.90″ x 1.12″ (Length x Width)
  • Weight: 0.5 Ounces

Inside the retail box you’ll find the instructions, a product survey and of course the reVolt c2 USB car charger. No USB cables are included with the reVolt c2, but you can use the USB cables that came with your device. If you wanted to charge a device like the Sony Bloggie you might want to pick up a small USB extension cord so you can charge two devices at once.

Scosche advertises that the reVOLT c2 works with the free Scosche reVIVE App (Apple & Android) for advanced battery management. We thought this might be used to prevent power leeching or something interesting, but it’s just an app that shows how much time you have left before your battery dies and how long it will take to charge your phone. We gave it a try, but didn’t find it to be accurate or too useful.

On the business end, the Scosche reVolt c2 looks just like any other cigarette lighter adapter. One one side of the charger you have the power specifications and on the other you have the Scosche brand name.

Scosche reVOLT c2 USB ChargerThe ultra low-profile design is a key selling point for many people. Scosche said that the car adapter fits flush in most 12V accessory power sockets, but it was slightly raised up in the 2012 Chevy Cruze that we tried it out in. The reVolt had a blue LED that will light up when the the adapter is plugged in has 12V power. If the blue light is on you can plug in your USB devices for charging.

Final Thoughts and Conclusions:

The Scosche reVolt c2 solves the problem of how to charge more than one power hungry USB device at a time from a single 12V accessory power socket. This is an increasing problem and the reVolt c2 is the quick and easy solution that won’t break the bank. The Scosche reVolt c2 comes backed by a one year warranty and is available online for $14.99 plus $0.99 shipping. You can find cheaper dual USB car chargers on the market, but they aren’t this small and currently don’t have dual 2.1 Amp USB ports. They are usually both 1 Amp or have one 1 Amp & one 2.1 Amp port. With the Scosche reVolt c2 you have to worry about who has the ‘good port’ because both ports are good!

Legit Bottom Line: The Scosche reVolt c2 is a low-profile dual USB car charger that features two powerful 2.1 Amp ports that can charge two tablets at once.
